Another birthday come and gone

Birthdays are celebrated by many and are exciting times and anticipated my most.  It snuck up on me.  I suppose I realized it was coming up when the week prior my darling daughter asks me what did I want for my birthday.  Ugh!  Then my sweet mother wants to ask if she can take me out for dinner on the night of my birthday.  sigh  So I can’t forget it’s my birthday, everybody reminds me!

I tried to think of why this is even a celebration for an adult.  I know that I like to “praise”, if you will, the fact that God gave me a beautiful baby on a particular day so I remind her of the joy she (both of them) is to me, but that’s all it is to me.  Why do I need to give her a gift, I’m not sure.  Part of the silly tradition, but everyone loves to receive gifts, and I love to give them, when I could afford it.

Birthdays just aren’t my thing, I guess you’ve gathered.  I prefer holidays.  The Holidays.  All holidays, but The Holidays are the best.  I get that warm fuzzy feeling, or maybe it’s because of the pretty sweaters I can wear.   The ones that go by in the blink of an eye.

But if you have a birthday coming up, I’ll wish you a very happy birthday, a fantastic day, with wonderful memories.

Til next time.

I am a Hispanic single woman, born and raised in the military lifestyle. Went on to become a veteran and an Army spouse. Throughout my life I have struggled with relationships, to include the most important, the one with my Father, God. I am currently working as a high school counselor, but am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and studying to take the Addictions Counselor exam for my LCDC. I want to help, encourage, and maybe through my many mistakes, help others, men and women.
