When you have a low self-esteem, you believe that you are never enough. You struggle with your identity, you just want to belong-be a part of something, even someone. You long for someone’s affection, hell just a great friendship would be perfect, and you even pray for this–for YEARS.
I had the pleasure of watching, for the first time, the Christian comedienne Chondra Pierce. If you have not had the pleasure, I highly recommend you watch at least one episode as she is down-to earth and just so refreshingly clean and funny. I watched her two years after she lost her husband. I want to share with you some of her words she jokingly shared with her audience. I do not wish to recreate what she said but to say how her words touched my heart and I want to share some of her words in hopes they will touch yours as well.
Chondra reminds us that when you don’t think you are enough, pretty enough, etc., the Devil uses our struggles to trigger pain in our life. She tells us to remember that their ugly words have nothing to do with us. It is their struggle- their problem. I must love myself as God loves me. I’m a princess! I’m a daughter of a king!
Use the Bible-it should be the blueprint of your life. When you feel broken, depressed, or when you feel like you’ve gotten of track, dig into the Bible, get on your knees!! Chondra reminded me, as I want to remind you, I am enough because Christ died for me!
And now, although I have just found out that I was deceived (by the man whom I gave my heart to two years ago ) before I had any knowledge, while we were together, I have been given a renewed spirit. Christ is merciful. I am healing and my wings are slowly unfurling.
